Stephanie Humphrey: Technology & Lifestyle Expert

The #SheInnovates stories team sat down with Stephanie Humphrey to discuss the role of women in innovation. Get involved at She Innovates Global.

#SheInnovates Stories: Innovation is solving the world's problems. What problem are you solving?

Stephanie Humphrey: I hope that I’m helping to solve the problem of cyberbullying and youth suicide while promoting good digital citizenship through my seminar ‘Til Death Do You Tweet.

#SheInnovates: When did you realize your innovation was a breakthrough?

SH: I realized I had something good on my hands when I got a Tweet from a student I had spoken to four years earlier, thanking me for helping her with her brand.

#SheInnovates: What were some unexpected obstacles you overcame in the innovation process?

SH: I still struggle with getting people to understand why what I do is important. I get a lot of calls after something unfortunate happens, so I’m always looking to step up my marketing so that I can reach as many people as possible before it’s too late.

#SheInnovates: What inspires you to love your work?

SH: I’m inspired by making a difference in the way people look at social media. If you can see it and use it as the tool it was intended to be, it changes your entire perspective about it and about yourself.

#SheInnovates: What do you hope that young women coming behind you take from your work?

SH: I hope young women understand that you can always change your mind, that you can decide you want to do something different and still be successful, and that you can be a positive force for change in your world.

#SheInnovates: Why are women in innovation important?

SH: Women in innovation are important because women are the backbone of any community. So, as women go, the community goes. If women are encouraged and given opportunities to be innovative, real change can happen in individual communities and around the world!
